The Senate

In 2000 I became Senator at the Parliament of the Czech Republic representing region of the city of Jablonec and part of region of the city of Semily.

At the moment I hold the following positions within the Parliament of the Czech Republic:

• Chairwoman of the Open Democracy Club
• Vice-chairperson of the Committee on National Economy, Agriculture and Transport
• Member of the Committee on Agenda and Procedure
• Member of the Standing Senate Commission on Senate Chancellery Activities
• Member of the Subcommittee on Transport of the Committee on National Economy, Agriculture and Transport

The most important Acts I have been working on include the Act concerning the reform of public funds (consumer tax and the Amendment of the Act concerning VAT). Moreover, I also dealt with the Road Traffic Act. As a reporter of Mandatory and Immunity Committee, I dealt with the case concerning the Senator Vladimir Zelezny.

As the main topics of my current electoral term (2006 - 2012) I foresee:

• Support of democratic principles,
• Reform of public funds,
• Support of small and medium sized businesses,
• Improvements to transparency of legal system of the Czech Republic,
• Strengthening of position of the Czech Republic in the European Union.

Electoral District

During my long-standing activities in the City Council of Jablonec (since 1992) and as Senator all over the electoral district (since 2000), I actively supported development of the city and the region.

In my current electoral term (2006 - 2012) I would like to:

• Implement improvements on the present City Council Administration,
• Reform and improve the educational system,
• Promote the city and region as a natural centre of tourism,
• Improve cooperation between public authorities on large region-wide infrastructural projects.
